Fake QR code scams occur when users lose their assets after scanning fake QR codes provided by scammers. Usually after users scan the QR code, they would open the transfer or DApp interface. However, if they scan a fake QR code, the operation on the page would actually be an approval process. If users click “Approve”, the scammers would have obtained the transfer authorization of the corresponding assets and quickly transfer them away.
In addition, some posters of fake airdrop events would feature a fake QR code. Airdrop tokens are promised to dupe users into scanning the QR code. After scanning, "Approve" operations are required to receive the airdrop, which would result in users falling into the trap of the scammers and the tokens would be maliciously transferred.
Huobi Wallet reminds users not to scan such QR codes and to beware of fake QR code scams. Huobi Wallet supports users to modify the approved amount. Users can adjust it according to their own needs, so as to avoid asset losses caused by excessive approval.
